Leadership and expertise
Akalu Paulos is the founder and CEO of Apt Consult. Akalu has worked in the public, international non-profit, faith-based, and multilateral governmental organizations for over 30 years as a development practitioner, consultant and researcher in Ethiopia and the United States. Over these years, Akalu has sharpened his expertise in the areas of facilitating strategy development, leadership development, organizational development (OD) and change intervention, project cycle management, business development, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning, knowledge management, grantwriting and grant management, career development, conflict resolution and peacebuilding and, migration management.
Akalu has a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Management from the University of Maryland University College, in the US, and a MA degree in Development Studies from the University College Dublin, in Ireland.
Akalu has spoken at multiple high-level and international research and practitioner conferences and workshops around the world, including the US, Germany, Ireland, Canada, and Australia among others. Akalu’s papers on topics such as the Ethiopian civil society, governance and accountability, gender and human rights, partnership development, organizational learning and change, and participatory development have been published in post-conference proceedings.
